INTEROP 2006, LAS VEGAS BOOTH 1548, and Basking Ridge, N.J. –
Mid-sized businesses ready to step up to higher levels of functionality and
scalability with IP telephony now have an easier and more cost-effective path
with a new Avaya Media Server, unveiling today at Interop 2006 in Las Vegas.
Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) is a leading global provider of business communications
applications, systems and services.
The new Avaya S8400 Media Server is an easy-to-install, Linux server blade
that upgrades Avaya DEFINITY® ProLogix, IP600 and Avaya S8100 Media Servers
to IP Telephony and the latest version of Avaya Communication Manager.
The new Avaya Media Server protects investments and minimizes disruption
by allowing customers to retain existing configurations, boards and phones.
Companies can start benefiting immediately from IP telephony features and
functionality, and incrementally add mobility, contact center and collaboration
applications and IP telephony endpoints.
The Avaya S8400 Media Server also offers new customers a compact, full or
hybrid IP telephony solution for the mid-sized business or small of large
locations.
For businesses with more than one location, the new server can support up
to five Avaya Media Gateways with local survivability. This means that
companies with multiple locations can centralize administration and management
of telephony to reduce operational costs and requirements, and distribute
Avaya Communications Manager applications to all offices over the network.
Business continuity is improved since local offices can maintain communications
in the event that the primary facility or network becomes unavailable.
The new server also offers expanded scalability of up to 900 lines and
400 trunks.
The Avaya S8400 Media Server is priced at $4500 for customers upgrading
from existing systems and $6200 for a server/gateway bundle for new customers.
It is available now from Avaya direct and indirect sales.
Avaya communications solutions for Mid-Sized Businesses, along with other advanced
applications from Avaya, will be on display at Avaya Booth #1548
at Interop 2006 in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, May 2 – 4, 2006.
