Pune, INDIA, February 05, 2004-- Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, inaugurated its India Development Centre at Cybercity Magarpatta, Pune, in India on 29 January 2004. The Development Centre was opened by Karyn Mashima, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Technology in the presence of Ravi Sethi, President, Avaya Labs.
Avaya’s India Development Centre will collaborate with Avaya Labs in the Asia Pacific and around the world for research and development in converged solutions, Customer Relationship Management and Unified Communications Solutions as well as consulting and integration services. This state-of-the-art new facility will also house Avaya’s Global Solutions Support Centre, which will provide complete maintenance support for customers and business partners.
The India Development Centre reflects Avaya’s values and philosophy of customer value, diversity and innovation. Encompassing 22,000 square feet, the facility is in keeping with international workplace standards, and well-equipped with technologically advanced communications solutions allowing for seamless work environments, and 24X7 operations in conjunction with its facilities spread across the globe. The Centre is networked with Avaya’s own technology solutions such as Gigaspeed wired LAN and Avaya wireless data connectivity, Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solutions for voice connectivity.
In addition, the Centre also utilizes structured cabling solutions, online UPS backup for all critical functions and workstations, and most advanced access control system with monitoring of critical areas. The Centre is ergonomically designed to ensure a highly productive and comfortable environment including sound absorbent ceilings for reduced office noise. In addition, the Centre offers an extremely employee-friendly atmosphere with various recreational facilities, common meeting areas and cafeteria.

Avaya Inaugurates India Development Centre
Avaya – Pune centre provides support in the following six areas:
- Consulting and Integration Services (CIS) handles three primary functions
- CIS business for India and emerging APAC countries,
- Delivery assistance and resource support to various regional CIS teams in APAC and across the globe,
- The Global Remote Delivery Team, which provides support for remote offers like CMS implementation, Application Maintenance etc.
- Global Solutions Support Centre
- A joint initiative between Centre of Excellence (COE), International Technical Assistance Centre (ITAC) and CIS teams to provide “complete” maintenance support for customers and business partners especially in the areas of applications intensive products like Avaya Interaction Centre (AIC) and PDS.
- CRM R&D
- handles Product Development, Quality Engineering as well as 24x7 Tier-3 and Tier-4 support for various enterprise Communications Application Division (ECAD) products.
- UCS R&D
- The Unified Communications (UCS) team at Avaya Pune is involved in various phases of product development for Avaya Messaging products like IA770, Modular Messaging, IA LX 1.0 and 1.1, Serenade. The team is entirely responsible for new product development and on going support of integrations for Avaya Messaging products.
- CSD R&D
- Avaya’s Converged Solutions Division (CSD) is responsible for the development on Avaya’s flagship product which is the Avaya Communication Manager widely known as Definity in the past. The CSD, Pune team is involved in the development of custom features on the Avaya Communication Manager platform for end customers, system verification of the switch software and the development of test tools that ensure that the product runs reliably in the market.
- Appliances R&D
- The newly established Appliances team is responsible for the development of Test tools and System Verification of Avaya’s products like the IP soft-phone, IP hard-phone and a variety of Avaya’s end points used in conjunction with the EPABX. The team works hand in hand with the team in Avaya’s global headquarters in New Jersey for the System Verification phase of Avaya’s products.
